APS Fulfillment, Inc. (www.APSFulfillment.com), one of the nation’s leading cost-effective fulfillment and integrated direct mail marketing companies, comments on higher than expected 2016 U.S. retail sales forecast, due, in part, to stronger online sales.
According to one trade group, 2016 U.S. retail sales are going to be stronger than expected. The National Retail Federation said it expects retail sales to advance 3.4% in 2016 thanks in part to a stronger than expected start to the year and stronger online sales as the economy improves. “At 3.4%, the 2016 U.S. retail sales is up slightly from the trade group’s initial forecast of 3.1%. This puts 2016’s retail growth in line with last year’s,” says Charles Aultman, president of APS Fulfillment, Inc. “The biggest growth segment though will come from online, with sales projected to increase between 7% and 10% in 2016. This is slightly better than previous expected as consumers are increasingly turning to e-commerce.”
Aultman explains that with consumer confidence levels high, retailers will need to ensure their warehousing and fulfillment needs are capable of exceeding their customer’s expectations, especially as it gets closer to the holiday season. Outsourcing warehousing and fulfillment services helps brands big or small, increase accuracy, reduce costs and operational overhead, and provides access to better delivery models.
